Privacy policy
Effective 23 May 2026
This page explains what data Wandernova collects, why, and what your rights are. It applies to the Wandernova iOS app.
The short version
- We collect anonymous gameplay events (which planets you visit, when you crash, what upgrades you buy) to help us improve the game.
- We do not collect your name, email, location, Game Center handle, or any advertising identifier.
- You can turn analytics off any time in the app's Settings.
- Data is stored on EU servers and retained for up to 12 months.
- You can email privacy@primaverastudios.co.uk to ask for your data to be deleted.
Who we are
Wandernova is published by Primavera Studios Ltd, the data controller for the purposes of UK and EU data-protection law.
- Company: Primavera Studios Ltd (private limited by shares)
- Registered in: England and Wales, company number 17193193
- Registered address: 82A James Carter Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7DE, United Kingdom
- Email: privacy@primaverastudios.co.uk
What data we collect
When analytics are enabled, Wandernova sends the following kinds of information from your device to our analytics processor (PostHog):
- An anonymous identifier generated on your device the first time the app runs. It is not your Apple ID, not your IDFA, and not tied to your name or email.
- Device and app context: device model (e.g.
iPhone15,2), iOS version, app version and build number, locale, and ISO region code (e.g.GB,DE). - Gameplay events: when a run starts and ends, what caused a crash, which mission rings you complete, which upgrades you buy, when you open the leaderboard or share a run card, when you view a tutorial video, when you change a setting, and similar in-app actions. A full list of event names and their properties is maintained in the project's event taxonomy.
- In-app purchase information: the product identifier of any in-app purchase, the localised price, and the storefront currency. We do not see your payment details — those stay between you, Apple, and your card issuer.
- App lifecycle: when the app is launched and when it is resumed after more than thirty minutes in the background.
What we do not collect
To be explicit about the things people commonly worry about:
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact detail.
- We do not collect your Game Center display name or alias.
- We do not collect your precise location or attempt to derive your city from your IP. The IP address used to send events is discarded by our analytics processor on arrival.
- We do not collect the IDFA (Apple's advertising identifier) or use any advertising or attribution SDK.
- We do not record anything you type, your contacts, your photos, or any other on-device content.
- We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Why we collect it
The purpose of collecting this data is to understand how the game is being played so we can improve it: tune the difficulty curve, fix bugs and crashes faster, find which tutorial steps are confusing, and decide what to build next. We do not use this data for profiling or to make automated decisions about you.
Legal basis
If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction with equivalent privacy laws, we collect analytics data only with your explicit consent, which you give by tapping "Allow" on the first-launch prompt and can withdraw at any time. Our legal basis is therefore your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK and EU GDPR.
If you are elsewhere, we collect analytics data on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the game. You can still turn analytics off at any time in the app's Settings, and you can object to this processing by emailing us.
Who processes the data for us
We use PostHog as our analytics processor. PostHog stores the data on our behalf on servers located in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). We have a data processing agreement in place with PostHog. You can read PostHog's own privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.
We do not transfer your data to any other third party. App Store and in-app purchase data is processed by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Analytics events are retained for up to twelve months and then automatically deleted by our analytics processor. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics derived from the data (such as "average run duration" or "tutorial completion rate") may be kept indefinitely.
Your rights
Under UK and EU GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct data that is inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete your data ("right to erasure").
- Ask us to restrict how we use your data.
- Object to our use of your data on legitimate-interest grounds.
- Withdraw consent at any time — toggle analytics off in the app's Settings, or email us.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EU, your national data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@primaverastudios.co.uk. Because the data is tied to an anonymous identifier rather than to your name, we may ask you for the anonymous identifier (shown in the app's Settings) so we can locate the right records. We aim to respond to requests within thirty days.
Children
Wandernova is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under thirteen. If you believe a child has used the app and we hold their data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, if appropriate, notify you in the app the next time you launch it. Minor changes (clarifications, typo fixes) may be made without notice.
